The event is in partnership with Oakland Forward and activists and members from AFL-CIO, SEIU, the American Postal Workers Union & Southeast MI Jobs W/ Justice.

The event is open to the media. Please RSVP to Kenny Williams Jr. at kwilliams@forourfuturefund.org.

WHO:

Congressman Andy Levin

MI State Representative Regina Weiss of the 6th district

WHAT: In-person event with local politicians, community members, and community groups

WHEN: Wednesday, June 29 at 6:00 p.m.

WHERE: Hawthorne Park, 1400 Telegraph Rd., Pontiac, MI 48340

BACKGROUND: FOF-MI has been organizing on the ground in Michigan since 2018 in support of progressive policies and candidates, including President Biden, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters, and dozens of congressional, state legislative, and local candidates.

FOF-MI strongly believes in steady, good-paying jobs, decreased gender and racial wage gaps, better benefits, increased access to time off, safer working conditions, and more. The ability for workers to be able to organize, collectively bargain for better working conditions and wages, and do so without fear or intimidation, shouldn’t be a partisan issue, a privilege, or in doubt, it should just be the law of the land.
