For Our Future Michigan To Join Oakland Forward And Other Michigan Groups For In-Person Block Party

PONTIAC, MI – On Sunday, August 28 at 1 pm., Oakland Forward, For Our Future Michigan (FOF-MI), and other community groups will host an in-person Block Party at Beaudette Park featuring local community leaders, activists, and various Michigan State Representatives. In addition to providing an afternoon of fun, resources will be provided to educate guests on upcoming legislation that will impact Michigan communities. As these groups gear up for the state’s primary election this November, this event will mark the beginning of numerous Fall 2022 events to encourage civic engagement, voter registration, and more.

The event is open to the media. Please RSVP to kwilliams@forourfuturefund.org and danisha@mioaklandforward.org.

WHAT: Block party with local elected officials, community members, and community groups

WHEN: Sunday, August 28 at 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Beaudette Park @ 786 Orchard Lake Rd, Pontiac, MI 48341

BACKGROUND: FOF-MI has been organizing on the ground in Michigan since 2018 in support of progressive policies and candidates, including President Biden, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters, and dozens of congressional, state legislative, and local candidates.

FOF-MI strongly believes in steady, good-paying jobs, decreased gender and racial wage gaps, better benefits, increased access to time off, safer working conditions, and more. The ability for workers to be able to organize, collectively bargain for better working conditions and wages, and do so without fear or intimidation, shouldn’t be a partisan issue, a privilege, or in doubt, it should just be the law of the land.
